ASSESSMENT OF NEVUS TREATMENT BY PUNCH TECHNIQUE

Abstract

Background: Nevi are lesions involving melanocytes usually brown or black, appearing from childhood or in adults. The lesions can develop anywhere on the body, in which nevi on the face affect the aesthetics. There are many methods to treat them such as operation, electrocautery, laser. Punch is an instrumen for the cutaneous biopsy and has been used to remove nevus. We carry out this study to evaluate nevus treatment by punch.

Material and methods: The observational study of 31 nevi less 3mm operating by punch procedure of 17 patients at the Dermatology Clinic, Hospital of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy from January 2021 to May 2022. Assessment of the results after 1 day, 7 days and 14 days.

Results: Participants had an average age of 27,4 ± 9,83; the nevus size  was 2,1 ± 0,5 mm, most of the lesions were macular, the common site was the cheek. The results showed most patients had the mild pain after the local anesthetic wears off, after one day pain-free. After 7 days and 14 days the results showed that 100% dry lesion, 2 edges glued well, suture wrinkles were not clear, the surface had erythema, no rabbit ears phenomenon. The majority of patients were very satisfied with the results.

Conclusion: Nevus treatment by punch had many advantages and aesthetics.
