Abstract

Purpose: to determine the relationship of antithyroid antibodies in patients with chronic urticaria.

Participants and methods: cross-sectional description with 84 patients diagnosed with chronic urticaria

Results: 32.1% positive for ATA (27/84 cases including 19 female/8 male) (anti-TPO 8.3% (7/84 – 6 female/1 male) – anti-Tg 7, 1% (6/84 – 5 female/1 male) – TRAb 27.4% (23/84 – 15 female/8 male)). There was no difference between anti-TPO, anti-TG, TRAb positive and negative groups in terms of age of onset, gender, and total symptom score. TRAb is related to the duration of disease (positive is mainly less than one year (82.6% - 19/23 cases). A positive anti-TPO has an increased incidence of angioedema and disease duration of more than one year. was 28.6% and 57.1% higher than the negative group.

Conclusions: Antithyroid antibody test is an essential test for patients with chronic urticaria to diagnose the cause and prognosis of the disease.
